Welcome to ESEE 2027
We are delighted to welcome you to the 28th European Seminar on Extension and Education (ESEE 2027), taking place from 28 June to 2 July 2027 in Rakvere, Estonia. Hosted by the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge (METK), ESEE 2027 will bring together researchers, educators, advisors, innovation brokers, policymakers, students and practitioners from across Europe and beyond.
Agriculture and rural communities are navigating profound changes. Climate challenges, technological developments, demographic shifts, new policy expectations and changing societal values are transforming the way knowledge is created, shared and applied. In this rapidly evolving environment, advisory sevices, extension and education play a vital role in supporting resilience and sustainable development.
The theme of ESEE 2027, "Human-centric extension and education: empowering the future of AKIS", places people at the heart of agricultural knowledge and innovation systems. While digitalisation and artificial intelligence are opening exciting new possibilities, meaningful change continues to depend on trust, collaboration, learning, leadership and human relationships. The seminar will explore how emerging technologies can strengthen, rather than replace, the human dimensions of extension and education.
ESEE 2027 aims to move beyond discussion towards practical impact. Participants will explore how advisory services, education systems, innovation support organisations and farming communities can work together to build more resilient, inclusive and future-oriented Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS).
We look forward to welcoming you to Estonia for an inspiring programme of scientific exchange, practical field trips, and networking.
Warm regards,
